This project is unique in our renewable energy portfolio. The intake and powerhouse for the single-impulse type Pelton turbine/generator unit is interconnected to the isolated camp load by a submarine cable. The previous main power source for this remote site was multiple diesel generator units.
The project scope for UEE Consisted of the design, manufacturing and commissioning of the 5kV generator switchgear assembly complete with an integrated generator protection system, plc based turbine/generator control system, intake power control system and the balance of plant/station service subsystems.
The engineering package included complete drawings, testing and commissioning plans, quality assurance documentation, production testing reports, operations manuals, maintenance manuals, installation cable and interconnection schedules.
Site services included all equipment testing, protection verification testing and control system verification testing. UEE also provided operator training and configuration of the remote monitoring and control station.
The Malibu Camp in Princess Louisa Inlet of B.C. required a unique generator control system for its power needs. UEE designed and commissioned a 5kV Generator to solve this problem.
